2020 Sundown Salute Cancelled

Junction City, KS...After careful consideration, the Sundown Salute Committee has decided to cancel the 2020 Sundown Salute Celebration. The event was scheduled to take place July 1 thru July 5, 2020. According to Sundown Salute Chairperson Michele Stimatze, "Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the risks were tool great. We were concerned for the safety of our community. With the uncertainty of the timing of when future events can take place, it was in the best interest of everyone to cancel this year's event."

"We are also aware of the hardship the pandemic has placed on our business community", she continued. "We just didn't feel the sponsorship money would be available to put on this year's event".

The committee is planning on keeping the parade for the 4th of July, if conditions allow. The bands booked for this year have been willing to consider returning for the Sundown Salute in, 2021. The amusement company that has been part of Sundown Salute, Ottaway Amusements" has agreed to return in 2021.

This would have been the 48th Annual event.
